Spring Cleaning

Just doing some yearly ritualistic cleaning out…you know…emptying the closets, throwing away valuable mementos…
Some of the stuff I found was unbelievable!
I can’t believe I kept this stuff for so long! Some things I found:
A high school poem that was really bad
A letter from an ex- girlfriend
A christmas card from ‘99
A very moving letter from my dad (written to me on my 21st Birthday) which i kept
Charlie Christian guitar solos in Tab (like I’ll ever learn them again!)
Taxes from 2000
Old note pads with grocery lists from 5 years ago!
The list goes on and on!
ANdy Warhol had these cardboard boxes with years written on them (presumably they are now in the warhol museum?)
and he would throw every scrap of paper he accumulated in a year into the box!
What dedication to uselessness! So, I won’t be remembered as the world’s greatest archivest, and there may be one or two lines on some piece of paper in there that would have been amazing in a song,
but mostly, it’s just stuff.
Stuff comes at me like a relentless tide. (I will refrain from using the term “Tsunami” although I was tempted)
I have to exert myself to stay above the din..the noise that it creates psychically!
I feel like a tremendous weight has been lifted and would recommend this process to anyone!
The above box of stuff will be burned tomorrow at 10 AM sharp.
