I heard a great song on the radio and looked up what I could remember about the lyrics, turns out it was Dar Williams. If you go to her website, you can listen to it. It’s called Echoes. I also heard a good new record produced by my friend Tucker Martine by an artist on Nonesuch Records called Laura Veirs. The musicianship is excellent, and the songs are unique and she’s a good writer. I’ve been practicing a lot of 80′s songs for a gig at the Exit Inn with Guilty Pleasures! The reason I like to do this gig is that some of the session musicians who played on the actual records like to sit in with us. This time we have Craig Krampf (who played drums on Betty Davis Eyes, Eye of The Tiger, Oh Sherry, the list goes on). It’s a great honor to play with such a lion-hearted musician!
After this, it’s back to the Bees, more news soon.

The Bees enjoyed a terrific turnout for our first Nashville show in a while at the Mercy Lounge last Saturday night. The proceeds from all sales of “Starry Gazey Pie” went to the Red Cross (which turned out to be $110.00). I am deeply saddened by the tragedy of the hurricane, and the ineptitude of our current administration, although I can’t figure out which makes me sadder. We performed live for over an hour on Nashville’s “Lightning” 100. These are all charming folks with good taste (for the most part) in music. In other news, we are beavering away on our new record, and hope to have it completed by Christmas. So a hearty thanks is order to all who came to the Bees show, and all at Lightning 100, because your support will help us finish this record we’ve started! Also, Starry Gazey Pie is now available on itunes, so if you haven’t downloaded it, please do! More soon! Toodles.
