fall setting in.
Although it’s kind of hard to convince myself when it’s still 85 degrees. I guess maybe there is some credibility to the global warming thing. last year, it was only 84 if I remember correctly. Anyhow, lot’s of stuff happening: I recieved a conspicuous package from Warren Zanes, turned out all my suspicions were confirmed: it was his new album (which I produced) and it looked great. His wife Elinor helped with the artwork, as well as Griffin Norman. Look for a release first part of next year. I guess they say that’s when it will “drop”. Josh Rouse also has shared some excellent rough mixes of his new album with me and this is going to be a good one. You wouldn’t expect anything less from Josh. Let’s see: this week I am writing with another talented Canadian, Jessica Maros. She is a singer songwriter and also a neighbor. The N.S.A.I is lobbying congress for more rights for songwriters. This is a good organization. Check them out. Had James Digiralamo to dinner last night, he told me Sarah Siskind has been writing some awesome songs lately. She has just signed on to do the Mercy Lounge’s “8 off 8th” series, which I will be proudly hosting on the 17th (monday). I am also excited to play with Guilty Pleasures! Once at Artrageous and then again downtown for Halloween (the 29th) try to make it out to either if you can…should be off the chain.
Making slow but steady progress on “The Bees” and we had a fun gig at “Hair of the Dog” where John and I had some actual dog hair and weended up playing songs we hadn’t (much to the audiences’ dismay) played in years. The gig was a benefit for the ASPCA and all they are doing for the animals affected by Katrina! Then, David Gherke and I (unbeknownst to him) started a new experimental side project with just ukulele and drums. Pretty fun. We did cover versions (of my songs) at the Mercy Lounge monday. Anyhow, I am trying to feel like I’m being productive, but I can’t always see it in the moment. I never feel like I’m doing anything, but then, when I go to the trouble of writing it all out, it seems like i’m really busy. Anyhow. Love to all.
Hi Daniel,
Just wanted you to know I’m a big fan and have enjoyed reading your blogs. Really looking forward to hearing more Bees tunes.
I saw Josh Rouse in Seattle last April…solo show…would’ve loved to have seen you and the rest of your mates as well.
By the way, I’m an audio designer for Muzak and I’d love to use your music for GAP, Crate & Barrel, LensCrafters, etc…and Starry Gazey Pie isn’t it our music database. So I wonder….are you licensed with us? Please feel free to e-mail if you’re intersted.
Sorry a bit long on this note, hope to see you on the road soon!
Best,
Traci

Hi Traci-
Thanks for the positive feedbag. I hope the bees manager will be in touch soon about putting “starry gazey pie” into your database.
We would love to be in there, and if you want my solo stuff, it’s available on this blog for download (under “the lovetest”) and hope to see you in Seattle this spring.
best, daniel
