Sara Beck came over, and she was feeling discouraged about the music industry, and I was saying I knew what she meant, and it’s like that Hunter Thompson thing about: “there’s also a bad side.” (Laughs),But we worked for a little while, in spite of our discontentment; and I tried to be diplomatic about it, but I suppose none of my ideas excited her. Walked to the library, and I got some kids’ books out, to look at the illustrations, and started doing a couple drawings while I was watching tv and I’m really out of practice. But it’s fun, and Jerry Dale McFadden called to say how much he liked the Bees (which was sweet) and he said he wanted to look at my fox-hunting paintings. Sometimes I start thinking “What if I was just a painter? Could I hack it?” and that same old question arises, to which the universe seems to reply with a resounding “I think you should try it!” ; but I never know when to trust the universe and when not to. Leslie went to a Public Health dinner, so I heated up some leftover pasta, and made some zucchini, but I didn’t eat it. Spent some more time drawing, and I’m less patient than I used to be. I used to have infinite patience.
