Tommy Keenum came over and told me about his ideas for the sessions and it seems like he’s got some good musicians lined up. Went to the Taproom with him, and he had tacos and they looked pretty good. I wasn’t really hungry, so when I got home, Leslie said do you want to eat, so we went to J. Alexanders and it was good. I had a hamburger and fries.

Worked on some new songs at the house; “I still couldn’t sleep last night” and “Here we Are” and something called “Cold Morning Rain”- Kind of Country-ish ideas. I think this next project will have some country flavor to it. Playing my dad’s Epiphone is really an inspiration. Went to get some Mexican food with Melissa and we decided to try to do some new demos over the holidays.

Met Brian Sprouse for lunch at this new Italian place that Brad Jones told me about. It was really quiet in there. Too quiet, almost. “Well, that’s good if you want to talk.” my dad said. We talked about maybe working together in one way or another, and I like him. He’s bright. And best of all, he seems to like what I do, and feel there’s some commercial viability there. After we had lunch, he came over for a few minutes and I played him some demos. I was wishing I had more demos finished to play, but there you go. He seemed to like the stuff I did play. He said one thing sounded like James Taylor, which he was right, it definitely did. Went to the basement to hear Jenny Orenstien and Helena, Brian’s roommate. It was nice to see Jenny and talk to her, then we all went to the Taproom, and I had the Chocolate Banana Bread which was unbelievably good. Then my old bass teacher Viktor showed up, and it was fun to see him and I enjoyed talking to Helena as well. Swedish women might be the most attractive in the world. Then I met Julianna Raye, who is staying with Kate York, who appearantly sings with Rufus Wainwright, and Kate said my voice reminded her of Rufus Wainwright, which I know must be true, but I kind of hate hearing that. Oh well. What can you do? I want people to say: “His voice kind of sounds like Sinatra!”

Went to the bank and ran some other errands. Zoe’s chicken salad ($8) and to Tower Records. They still had my Grant Green boxed-set, and as a matter of fact they had 2, so I thought, why not wait until they go down another 10%? Answered some emails and walked the dogs.
