Sunday May 27 2006

Walked early and read the S.N.Y.T. Absolutely illegible, incomprehensible article by John Pareles about tribute records. Piece on Yeltsin. He’s kind of a baddie, I suspect. I wish Barak and Hillary would run together. Is that a bad idea? It probably is. I don’t know. Watched the end of the Dylan thing, and contemplated taking my gran to the Frist. Decided to just Feng Shui and I didn’t really get much done. Grimey called and he was going to Geoff’s for a cookout, and it was sweet to invite me, but I just felt so tranced out by that Dylan thing. It was like some kind of fog was around me, and I just had to lay low until it blew over. Went to Hopkins for dinner, and it was steak, and I ate some and it was great. But not for a long time, now. It was so heavy. Went to P.M. with Angelo and Eulene and that was fun, then we took the “Biggshaw” back, which is like this big rickshaw/motorcycle-type-thing. I took a photo behind me as Eulene was on her scooter.

  1. Hey Daniel,
2 Questions: What was the Dylan thing, and what does it mean to “take your gran to the Frist”?

Saw an interesting quote in the SNYT by the novelist Graham Greene. He said, “One has no talent. I have no talent. It’s just a question of working, of being willing to put in the time.” Thought that was interesting, from a creative point of view.

I need to read that article on tribute Albums. I still have the Times lying around here.

  3. Hey Daniel,
Can I ask you what you felt after the Dylan thing? I saw one part of it on PBS, need to see the other. Can you explain what you meant that you felt ‘tranced by it, like some kind of fog was around you’ Are these good or bad connotations? Just curious. How do you feel about Bob Dylan in general as an artist?

    Thanks,
    Stephen

  4. OH, thanks Amy for defining those things for me, “taking my gran to the Frist” almost sounded like a metaphor for some emotional reaction to the Dylan thing.
I’ve heard more than one pundit say that Hillary/Barrack was the plan. Would be a helluva strong force to be reckoned with.
