Walked the long walk with my mom, and I told her I had recorded Kennerley’s “Love Match.” She was sort of like “What for?-Why not write your own?”, but I was determined to not be discouraged. Gave Posh a bath, and took her to Hopkins, and my mom gave her a haircut. She was so happy to have it sheared off. She was like, eternally grateful. It must have been torture for her, running around with that thick coat on in 100 degree weather. Had lunch at Hopkins, and went back to work for a couple hours, then to Starbucks. Stayed home, and watched SNL, and they were making fun of “The Secret” and now it’s this thing nobody likes, and it’s very un-cool, because it’s gotten so huge, and it’s very fashionable to make fun of it, but I still love it.  It must be the Scientologist in me.

  1. Damn, I wish I’d caught that SNL making fun of the Secret. Although, I’m like you I believe in the Secret, have the book, video, thank its great, think its right, somehow, maybe not directly, but somehow we create everything that’s around us, the life we live.
But it’s like in the early 90’s when I got into this thing called “Self-Talk” It really helped me then, thought it was great, made sense, and then Al Franken on SNL sort of made fun of the concept with his Stuart Smalley character. Then, I stopped doing it.
Recently, I started listening to the tapes again like in the morning and night while showering, brushing teeth, etc., and I realized “Hey I like this in its own right. It’s fun saying positive things about myself. I don’t have to constantly monitor if its actually changing my life on the outside world to just have fun doing it.”
Kind of a different attitude towards it. Kind of like just enjoying an episode of Seinfeld or something. So I don’t mind if SNL makes fun of the Secret and such. But man, when Bill Maher tore into it one time it really soured me on his political program, but I can still enjoy his comedy.
