Friday May 30 2008

Well it was a bit dicey there for a minute.  The Powerbook crashed yesterday. I had tons of songs on the itunes and tons of lyrics and Reason ideas. I don’t know what I was thinking not backing that stuff up. I guess I just thought “It’ll never crash without any warning!” but it sure as hell did. My brother says every hard drive crashes eventually. Oh well. So to the Apple store and I got a new computer that I really like and I’m exploring Logic. It’s quite nice, I think. Swam 1 mile, and ate like I was heading for the chair. Did an interview with Electronic Musician magazine. I’m just realizing that all my demos were in that Itunes and don’t know if I have copies of them anywhere else! What am I going to do? But now there’s incentive to get more work done quicker I suppose. Truth be told, I was starting to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of under-utilized ideas on that computer! It was too much for any human to process. There is such a thing as too many good ideas, I think. Had dinner with Josh Rouse and Brad Jones, Hags and Marc and Liz and David Mead. It was a nice dinner party, although somewhat heavily weighed in favor of the boys. Lily Fish called and said she was thinking of coming to the dinner party if her headache didn’t go away, but I guess it did.

  1. Hey Daniel,

Just thought you’d like to know that Matt Wertz was here yesterday (he played a set for us here at PlayNetwork) and I mentioned your name to him and he gave you such nice compliments!

Jesse Baylin is here now getting ready to play for us, we’re pretty spoiled around here. I’ve been using the heck out of “High Society” I produce custom music programs for PlayNetwork (White House/Black Market, Bath & Body Works, etc). If you’d like to know all the clients that are hearing your great music, you and/or your mangement can e-mail me at tstetzer@playnetwork.com or call me direct at 888.567.7529 x800. Happy to provide a list…

Hope to see you on the road!

  2. Man - sorry to hear about the computer. Run down to Best Buy and get an external hard drive for back up. I saw last week that they had a terrabite one (1000G) for uner $200. That’s a lot of space dude.

  3. Daniel - The stuff on that hard drive is definitely recoverable. Best case scenario, you can pay an IT shop a couple hundred bucks to get it back for you. Worst case, you can send it away to people who deal with REALLY screwed hard drives and it costs a couple thousand. Guess you gotta weigh how much all the stuff is worth to you.

If you lived in NJ, I’d do it for free. (But mostly for selfish reasons - I don’t want you to lose those songs because I want to hear them someday!)
