Well we had a nice Thanksgiving dinner last night. Karl and Carl, both sets of parents (minus Leann and Jay) and Bailey and Beau, Vicky and Jeanne. Turkey was fine. Then to the movies to see “Fantastic Mr. Fox.” and we were all knocked out by it. I was just beside myself. I felt like i’d been waiting my whole life for that movie. We emerged from the theater glowing and stunned by the poignancy and virtuosity of the work of art we had experienced. Several times during the movie I felt a chill at the deliciousness of the thing. Great Thanksgiving. Then L and C and K and I went back to the ranch and had a second meal, mini plate so to speak. Maybe even better than the first. Flirting with the idea of vegetarianism is always best AFTER the holidays.

So at least one thing is you can look up on the internet about Kevin Shield’s guitar pedals. Got on Rhapsody and I can’t stop listening to Loveless, I feel as if my mind expands each time I hear the record go by. It still sounds so fresh and warped and wonderful. Almost 20 years old. Can’t believe nobody sat me down and said “get ready to get your mind blown.” at age 19 and played me this record. It would have changed everything for me. Oh well. Never too late. I was too busy with Sting and Prefab Sprout. Oh well. Go figure. I think i’m getting a bit goth.

Well we both have ridiculous colds and feel old and cranky. But we went to see New Moon and the Thom Yorke song was really good. Amazing reverb on that song…Hearing Damage….Spent the better part of yesterday writing little notes to people and stuffing envelopes with “Chateau” promos and sealing them up. Looks like it will be on schedule for a March release. Been listening to Rhapsody alot. They got me with a free trial, then I was listening to all kinds of stuff I have wanted to hear but didn’t know if I wanted the records or not- Boards of Canada, Autochere, Aphex Twin….found a record I love called “Global Communication.” DJed last night at Mad Donna’s. Using that Traktor software. Really cool stuff…but I was using it in demo mode, which means it shuts off after 30 minutes…heh heh…So there I am DJing and the music stops and I had told Gherke about it and he just yells “30 Minutes!” really loud. It was funny. Then to Family Wash and the horror of the situation was I got really tipsy and Lillie drove me home and I tried to make these disgusting Pizza bagels in the middle of the night and they were horrible.

Well Bono has a great article in the times today. He’s really such an inspiration. Musically and politically. He’s also articulate and quite funny. Got me thinking about charities and this one‘s fantastic. Too bad I missed the T-Shirt design contest. I love contests, even though I’ve never won one. Particularly love contests based on some sort of skill or merit, judged by a knowledgeable panel. As in Tom Waits judging a songwriting contest. That’s pretty good. Been hard at work on some new country songs and we’re gearing up to release the Silver Seas record first quarter of next year. Carl is hard at work on the artwork, as soon as I can let a preview, out I will. Also, we are revamping the Silver Seas website, so we would like to include any fan photos or videos you may have. We don’t really care if they’re of the Silver Seas or not.
